I just came back from a retreat. I never thought I'd be the "type" to go- that I wasn't religious or holy enough.

But since the arrival of DS 3 months ago I found myself with a huge lack of patience, yelling a little more than I like, and being short with DH. I was emotionally and physically overwhelmed- whether or not I wanted to admit it to myself.

I was getting to a place that I was happy with, and most importantly, I wasn't happy with myself.

Going to retreat, to me, was going to be a way to "get away" for a few days- have my own room, have meals prepared for me, and allow me to just "be on my own time."

What I came away with, however, was so much more- I feel recharged: with the ability and grace to be more patient and more caring when given the opportunity. To have more clarity of mind in situations where I would previously have yelled. And to have more kindness toward my husband when I would have just rolled my eyes... he has already noticed a difference in how I am acting.

Ladies, we are pulled in so many directions- husband, children, work, family, etc... it is no wonder we get so out of "alignment"..

Going on retreat was a "solution" that I didn't know existed... so I just wanted to put it out there for those who dont' know about it or would have never considered it (I thought I'd be the youngest one there, but there were lots of young women- and even the older ones were so nice, and had a lot to offer!).
