Spirit airlines
I am reading mixed reviews about it. How bad are the seats? I know about the fees. I am considering booking with them for a NYE trip because they are 50% cheaper and have nonstop flights compared to other airlines that are 1 stop. If anyone had a flight cancellation with Spirit, how did they handle it..especially if they had no other flights on the same day?

We fly them to Myrtle Beach because there are no other options.
The seats are not the most comfortable.
We have flown them a lot because we have a condo there and it was our only non stop option.
We only had an issue once - but, it was bad. Our Tuesday flight was cancelled and they couldn't rebook us until Saturday. Thankfully they were able to get us a flight out of Atlantic City and we had hotel points to pay for the Sheraton there....

Re: Spirit airlines
It's not so bad for short flights. 2 - 3 hours most I'd do. We've gotten some great deals on it and since we're in NJ we have driven to the AC airport. The airport is small and parking is really easy. People there are very nice. It's still about an hour and a half drive to AC, but it's a fast drive and no traffic. Anything longer than 3 hours I wouldn't do.

Seats are the absolute worst. Very small. No recline.
However if you can get the "big front seats", pay extra for those. It's almost like a first class seat. I won't fly Spirit without getting big front seats.

Not a fan of Spirit at all. I never have any issues with flying - no motion sickness, anxiety etc. But, the one time I flew Spirit (relatively short flight - to Chicago), I started feeling panicky, like, "I need to get off this plane, NOW." I think it had to do with the very small seats. On the flight home, paid an extra fee ($50 I think) for the bigger seats up front, which was definitely better - nothing great, but worth it for sure

Same here- pretty much held hostage to them as one of the only non stop airlines that goes nonstop from NY to Myrtle. They nickel and dime you for everything (like baggage and seat selection), and there is little room in the seats but it's only an hour and a half flight so we deal.
My sister actually got cancelled this past summer in August when there was a bad storm up here in NY... she had a Friday morning flight and they couldn't rebook her until Sunday. It's a good thing they had my parents' condo to stay at and they were able to extend the time on their rental car.
