Re: Spinoff: Working moms & cleaning
seriously, i almost divorced my DH last night over this topic. I am exhausted when I come home and on the weekend I want to relax with DS. DH doesn't think I take care of the house - i wonder if he thinks there is a fairy godmother cleaning the toilets, tub, vacuuming. He cooks dinner 3 times a week and he acts like he is God. When I brought up getting a cleaning lady, he said "why, to make your easy life easier?" Can I kill him?

Re: Spinoff: Working moms & cleaning
I usually clean Thursdays when we get home from work/daycare. Lately I'm cleaning twice per week but I think that has something to do with nesting.

Re: Spinoff: Working moms & cleaning
I try to do it on the weekend nights after she goes to bed, so it doesn't take time away from my playtime with her. If it doesn't get done then, I'll do it at night during the week...I'm lucky, DH helps out big time with housework

Re: Spinoff: Working moms & cleaning
i work 3 days a week. every day i do simple things like make beds, wipe down bathrooms and kitchen, throw out garbage. i vacuum prob the 2 weekdays that i am home and one day on the weekend. i have a cleaning lady come 1x a week to do deep cleaning. i am the type of person that can not sit and relax if the room i am in is messy. if u just can manage to do a little straightening everyday it helps a lot!!

I'll kill yours if you kill mine
We have this fight so many times, b/c I am constantly picking up their crap, but he doesn't even notice it
I told him never to buy me another gift again, just get me a cleaning lady.
As my own mother told me "I'd rather have Cathy (our cleaning lady) then jewelry"

Re: Spinoff: Working moms & cleaning
i am not back to work yet, but find minimal time to clean now...i doubt that I will ever do it when I go back to work ever! Two words...cleaning service....best thing ever!!!! We will likely upgrade to once a week when I return to work and bring home my regular salary.

Re: Spinoff: Working moms & cleaning
I give a deep clean 1x/week (usually Thursday- DH will cook and play with DS while I clean up)
I maintain during the week by vacuuming and swiffering the floor.... (or giving a quick dust or cleaning fingerprints off the glass)
I also refuse to clean on the weekends...so I really push myself to get it down during the week...

Re: Spinoff: Working moms & cleaning
I wanted to add...
I have hired and fired 2 cleaning people...
It just wasnt up to my standards and I hated handing over $$$ to them....

Thank God for my cleaning lady! She does the big stuff every other week and I try to maintain little things during the week, with mixed results.

Re: Spinoff: Working moms & cleaning
Clean? What is this clean that you speak of?
On Sundays, I straighten up. Saturdays are too busy, I am stuck home with a child who doesn't like to nap for me....
