Spinoff to Voice Mail pet peeve - LONG MESSAGES!
UGH!!!!!!!!!!!! do you know someone who just loves to leave a 20 minute message on your home phone?  My MIL does it every single time and my Mom does it occasionally, but MIL takes the cake! she gets cut off sometimes b/c she just can't shut it! 
my DH always yells at the machine when he's listening to it: "OMG SHUT UP ALREADY"

both my mom and my mil like to ramble. don't ask me why and my mom likes to say "hi sarah, it's mom." duh, who else would it be?

How about the ones where they leave them while they are driving, and miss their exit, or get lost, or someone cuts them off, and they react to it for 10 mins on your voice mail -
Hi Liza, its John, I was just wondering if... sh!t - just missed my exit... ummm... I was wondering if... wait - I will just get off here and - damn, I shouldnt have done that - now I'm totally lost - ok, ummm... oh - maybe if I turn here and.... ummm - yeah, I was just caling to find out if... ok, let me call you back...

My FIL does that. And it's usually not even important (none of his calls are) but he goes on and on. He gets it after HIS father, who would leave messages like he was having a conversation with you.

Yes my DH!!!! It goes on and on and on! It drives me nuts! It must be a family thing because his entire family does it also!

My DH has a tendancy to forget he's called my cell phone so he'll say "Hey Jess you there? Jess? Pick up the phone, hello?....oh duh, this is your voicemaill, call me back"

I do that ALL the time with MIL's messages. then later on we'll be talking and she'll refer to something she said in her message that I deleted and I'm like... huh?
