Spinoff to sleeping longer

I noted that in many of your responses to "When does DC star sleeping longer", many of you noted btwn 7-8 pm til about 7-8 the next morning.

My DS is only 7 weeks, and he has two evening feeds before bed - 8ish and btwn 11pm and midnight. How and when do we break him of the 11-midnight feeding? Do we put him down in the bassinet after the 8:00 feeding? If yes, when should we start this?

im still trying to get rid of that feeding and my dd is 9 1/2 weeks old... id start trying now if i were u...GL!!


eta: i didnt literally mean "take away, or get rid of" i meant, im anxiously waiting for her to sleep through it, and i would start now, meaning putting her in the bassinet..

Nlot to scare you but my DD didn't sleep through the night until 7 1/2 months old! She would need a feeding between 2 and 4am. At her 6 month appt, I asked the doctor if I should let her cry and skip the feeding. My doctor said that at 6 months old DD could legitimately be hungry once per night.

My DS is almost 5 months old, and still hasn't slept through the night. We've tried putting to be earlier, later etc. We can't take a feeding away because the kid's stomach is literally growling, so I don't want to make him suffer in the middle of the night.

We just have to wait. Last night was the best stretch we've had. 8p-3:30a, then up again at 6:30.

Every baby is different, I would still feed the baby when hungry at that young age.

You won't break him of the feeding, eventually he'll give that up on his own.

DS didn't give it up until about 3 months though. I was still giving him a bottle at around 930/10P every night until about 4.5/5months. He would sleep until about 7 the next morning.
He phased that out once he was eating solid foods regularly.
Now his bedtime is 730 Ihe gets his last bottle then)- he's 8 months old.

He'll do it on his own.

Kristina started giving me 6 hour blocks when she was around 7 weeks old.... From 11 pm to 6 am.

Slowly but surely by the time she was 3 months old, she was giving me 12 hour stretches... from 7 pm til 7 am....

Nothing that I did... I don't think.... she pretty much created her own rules her whole infancy.

DS is 4 months old and still wakes in the middle of the night for a feeding, and he doesn't always wake at the same hour.

DD still gets her 11pm feeding but she drinks it sleeping but I give it to her and it keeps her content until the morning. she is 7 1/2 months

ETS: one night DH and I fell asleep before 11 and did not feed her and she did sleep until 7am but woke up cranky

MY DD is 6 months and just started sleeping from 8:30-5:30am. Sometimes i will still dream feed her at 11pm.

I agree with the PPs that your DC with do this on his own. My son for the most part sleeps from 8PM until 5AM, but every so often he still gets up in the middle of the night for a feeding - it happened last night. Sometimes they will just need a little more.

You can try putting him in the bassinet after the 8oclock feeding. DS eats about this time and had been eating around 11 when DH would take him out of the swing and bring him upstairs for bed. One day it occured to me that we should try to put him down for bed after the 8pm feeding since he always seemed to want to nap right after. He slept through the night that night and has pretty much every night for a full month since from 830-630. Worth a shot!

Emerson broke herself of that 10pm'ish feeding at 3months. At 7 weeks that 10pm bottle was her last and then she'd sleep till 8-9am. We just waited it out and then all of a sudden she had her bottle at 7:30pm and went to bed and slept til 7 the next morning and that was the end of the late bottle.

One thing i did was feed DD more during the day, i didnt realize it, but she needed more than i was giving her..plus she used to sleep really long stretches during the day and missed a feeding..now, all of a sudden , one night she just slept right through! I didnt do anything different really.

I wonder if I am putting mny boys down too early-they get fed around, bath then bed btween 6:45 and 7. They usually fall asleep right away. Then wake at 12, 3 and 6...they are 15 weeks
