Spinoff to Rock n Play

Why is it so great? Not arguing, just wondering. I had my first 2 before this came out, so I know nothing about it. I have my DS sleeping in the bassinet that DDs used, but I do notice that after the early am feeding, he is very restless. I often end up putting him in his swing (which is in my room). I'm wondering if this Rock n Play might be a better option.

The biggest thing is the incline. It also has a newborn insert that makes it snugly for them, like they are being held.

I loved the portability. Light to easily move from room to room. I even brought it in the bathroom a few times when i was home alone and wanted to shower and have the baby next to me.

Also Folds flat & I used to throw it in the car to use when I went to other peoples houses.

Do I need to put the baby in one of these to sleep when he is born? Is it absurd to just have him sleep in his crib?

No, no of course you don't NEED one, but some babies just sleep better/longer stretches in this vs the bassinet or the crib. If your baby does well in one of these (bassinet or crib or pack n play) by all means I would start them out here to avoid yet another transition down the line. My DS refused to sleep flat on his back and after being awake for 72 hours straight after coming home from the hospital and refusing to sleep for more then 30 minutes in the bassinet he was doing 3-4 hour stretches in the RnP at night! We stuck with this at night till around 5-6 months when we transitioned him to the crib and then weaned him off of his swaddle. Whatever works for you go with!

Definitely not a necessity. I don't think it's absurd at all to go directly into the crib. We're only planning on using the RNP for sleeping at night for the first few weeks. Then we are planning on transitioning her into her crib. I'd like her in her crib as early as possible, just not within the first few weeks.

The crib will be set up in our bedroom (we only have a one bedroom apt) so I was hoping to be able to just out him in the crib to sleep for space purposes.
