Spinoff to paying mortgage on one salary
how do you file your W2s? Single? Married? how many dependents?
i just switched to married to try to cover the mortgage myself (which i can't even still). but, i do get a bunch more in my paychecks. i'd rather be at single to get that hefty tax refund...
eta- does anyone know if you had the spouse making the least amount per year taking the deductions (1 or 2 depending on how many kids) how that affects you come tax time? is it negative meaning you get less back for a refund?

married, we get the most amount taken out so we get a bigger refund at the end of the year, and we will use that to do any projects around the house-for example this year we did our driveway, and next year we will do our master bath with that money...its like a forced savings for us.

i will be changing to married - i here the tax refund is only better if you dont file married if one of you makes much more than the other
