Spinoff to pacifier weaning (cutting tip)

OK - I think I'm ready to try this cutting tip thing. Exactly how do you do it? Is it a little pierce? An all-out cut? Any harm of a cut edge hurting dd? Details please!

This may not be helpful as my son was 3 when we took it away but we kept saying for a few weeks how he was such a big boy and made a big deal about that then said his teeth were getting too strong and they were going to break his binki. We then snipped the tip a little and he tries sucking it, hated it and threw it out. That was that. He cried for it from time to time especially at bedtime and then that stopped. I think we think it's going to be worse then it ends up being. It's a tough few days if that. Good luck!

We built up to the day when we cut it. We kept telling dd she was getting too big for binkies and that they would break soon. One day I just cut the end off (I cut vertically across the tip). I left it around for dd to find. She didn't even realize it until she put it in her mouth and it feel right out. She picked it up and and said "oh no it broken" and we told her that she was too big. She was a little sad but she went over the to the garbage pail and threw it away. There was no crying after that. It was so easy.

I just cut it a little bit here and there until she completely lost interest. DH told her that the binky fairy chewed it up LOL
