Spinoff to outgrowing stroller

DD was 2 in December, and she sometimes wants out of her stroller when in the stores. My biggest concern with going without the stroller is that when in stores, she loves to take things off the shelves. Like EVERYTHING off the shelves. It's all she wants to do. I can't even bring her to a library because all she does is take everything out. It's like a prolonged dump-and-fill stage or something. Does anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions?

Sorry no help. Dd loves to do that too. Then I say who made this mess and she proudly says ME! Yet she is so happy to tell me how she helps clean up at daycare!

I think it's just the age. I do remember being bored shopping with my mom until I was a preteen.

I find she is starting to get a little better as we are approaching 2.5 but it depends on her mood. Her favorite is to run and hide behind store displays/ library shelves.

Yep! And this is why I always have my almost 3 year old in a stroller or cart at all times Chat Icon . That kid can destroy a shelf in 3 seconds. My 4 year olds got much better at this when they were about 3.5. They still like to touch everything but it's not like it used to be where they'd take everything off the shelves and put it on the floor. Actually, my DD always did this. My DS always refaced the shelves, lol. If something was out of place he'd put it back. If the label wasn't facing correctly he'd fix it, lmao. I really don't have any suggestions. It's really just her age and she will start to grow out of it.

I try to put DD in the stroller or shopping cart whenever possible. Once she's in there is no getting out. I just don't let it be an option. If she gets restless I give her a toy, a snack, or grab something off the shelf for her to hold. If I do let her walk it's usually only for a short errand and I try to give her something to hold as a job to help me. She's good though and even if she has more freedom she usually takes one thing down at a time and then puts it back where she found it. Although I'll admit we had quite an embarrassing struggle over an umbrella when it was time to leave the shoe store yesterday!

Chat Icon wih I had advice for u my son does the same thing! his favorite thing to do is fling a bunch of hangers with clothes onto the floor. But now I tell him to pick everything up and put it back. He'll do it bc he thinks he's "helping mommy".
