Spinoff to my 2 and 3 year old mom post
How do you handle your " mini mental patient" <----(sorry had to steal) emotional roller coasters? At least once a week I have to have a pep talk with myself to recollect and stop yelling so much but really I cannot take the ups and downs I never know what to except at any given second .

LOL the mental patient comment was from me I could have written your post and I pretty much have in the past. It is very trying, frustrating, upsetting, etc. I have to do the same. Walk away and calm down. There were times I was disgusted with my own behavior to the point it would make me cry. They just have a way of bringing you to the edge! I just had to breath, walk away or put him in his room and ignore him. I can honestly say ((knock on wood)) it has gotten much better and longer between melt down recently. He will be 4 in March. Anyway, I have also learned to choose my battles because some are just not worth the fight. I notice a lot of the melt downs have to do with him needing to be in control. Sometimes I just have to put my ego to the side for my mental sanity. Anyway, you are not alone!

I encouraged my girls (and myself) to "catch a bubble". Whoever caught a bubble first could "pop" Mommy's bubble.
Catch a bubble= take a deep breath, make a fish face and puff out your cheeks.
Makes everyone take a deep breath and is usually good for a laugh.
hang in there Momma

Oh I love this!!
I count DS when he's being bad 1-2–3 and 3 is a time out, he hates it and it works well. He doesn't like staying in timeout either but since I've been super consistent he's been better at going in time out and staying there.
I was never a yeller but I am becoming one and I hate it, I've got to stop.
