Spinoff to Morbid Quesion - another one...
If you pass suddenly who picks out your last outfit to wear at a wake?
And do they just go through your closet?
I was just thinking the other day that if this happened to me, I have no idea what I'd be wearing because any dressy type clothes in my closet do not fit anymore  
I'm not vain in the least bit... but I don't know, I'd want to look presentable - who do you trust to do that?

just so you know - the clothes don't have to "fit" - they cut them to make them fit. If this means a slit in the back of a shirt or pants, so be it.
eta: If I die in the next month, they BETTER put me in my wedding dress! I will be soooo pissssed if I don't get to wear that!

If I were to pass suddenly it would be drama between my mother and my DH. My DH would pick one of my dresses from the closet and my mother would tell him "dont you know you're wife, she's been seen in that dress and she would want a new dress and shoes"
So the two of them and probably my MIL would go shopping. My DH would pick out something strapless or spaghetti straps and because that is what I like and my mom would insist i need something to cover my shoulders.
They'd go to about 10 different stores to end up going back to the first store and getting a dress from there. Then shoes. My DH would want to use shoes I have and my mother would tell him no she would want new shoes. Then they'd argue about my shoes for my mom to win the argument. And I'd get new shoes. Probably nothing open toe because my mother would insist I need closed toe shoes and stockings for when I go to the pearly gates. And as my whole family knows I hate hate hate hate when people where stockings and open toe shoes. So closed toe shoes it would be.
And DH would just say fine, but make sure she has a pedicure, her nails are nicely done and her hair is curly.
It would be such a fiasco.

I have told my DH that I want to be creammaided. Also, I want no wake, just a small church service. So, I guess they can put me in anything. My Dh hates when I tell him this.

When my stepsister died, my stepmother went right to her closet and chose an outfit for her.....
When DH's best friend died, I'm not sure who chose the outfit, but I remember not liking it. She was always such a diva and loved wearing cool clothes, and what they put her in was kind of lame....
I'm not sure about myself. Once again, this is still something I dont want to think about....

If i were to die tomorrow, I guess my mother would pick out my outfit because dh would not know what to choose for me so he would ask mymom to help him. I would want maybe a 1 day wake and i'm still think about either being cremated or buried... If they did not have enough burial ground than cremation it is. I would also want a party afterward no crying allowed after i'm gone.

I don't know who would pick out what I'd wear. DH knows that I don't like a thing in my closet right now.
MIL told us that she wants to be buried in a new pair of flannel pajamas. I don't think that's a bad idea.

I don't want to be waked...DH and my familly know that.
I want to be cremated immediately and have a memorial service for me. I hate the idea of people looking at my dead body...noone ever looks like themselves anyway, they always look like a wax figure and a bad one at that.

It won't be a problem for me or DH. Jews are traditionally buried in white shrouds made of a simple cotton or linen fabric. They are worn simply to avoid distinguishing between rich or poor people (I would imagine in the eyes of G-d, all people are equal.) Men are buried with their tallit and the fringes are cut off. There is no embalming as we tend to bury rather quickly and do not have open viewing.

I have told DH this, my mom and one of my good friends. My mom hates when I say something like this but you never know. I want to be in my wedding dress...

My best friend just picked out her sister's outfit when she passed, with the help of her sister's DH. She was cool and funky and I love how they chose an outfit that reflected this. She would have loved it.

My grandmother, wrote in her will the outfit she wanted right down to her shoes.
She also left detailed instructions as to where in her closet it was and that we should have it dry cleaned before we put it on her.
We were sitting in the attorney's office like  WTH? But, that was grandma. This is that same woman who would not even get her mail without lipstick on.
