Spinoff to middle child syndrome post the other day...

..do you think it matters what sex your kids are, for example, I have 2 boys, if I had another boy would my middle one be more likely to have 'middle child syndrome' vs if I had a girl. I'm obviously not looking for the answer, just your opinions! These are the things I think about........

Re: Spinoff to middle child syndrome post the other day...

I wrote a whole paper on this for a psychology class. From what I found out, gender does (can?) play a role but so do a million other things including age spacing, birth order of the parents, total number of siblings..

I think there is no perfect birth order. The oldest will complain about having too much responsibility, not enough freedom. The middle one will complain about being the middle child. The youngest will complain about being too babied.

I think it matters (but only judging from personal experience) Im the oldest, then i have 2 younger brothers. the middle one completely resented (and still might) the younger one. He felt left out, that the younger one always got everything, all the attention etc.

Same for DH's bros. The middle one lashed out and resented the little one for most of their lives right now.

I feel if they both were girls, they would feel differently. b/c then they would do more "girly" things and wouldnt care to be involved. KWIM??

I hope I explained myself correctly
