Spinoff to LR/Family Rooms

I am sorta wrestling with the same issue, but have a question specific to my house...

We have this room right off the kitchen, it's about 12x15 and I imagine this is where we'll spend most of our time during the day. The kitchen is right there, and there will be enough room for Sasha to have a few toys..

We also have the formal living room on the other side of the kitchen, and then a finished basement just down the stairs from the kitchen.

We thought we'd put our current LR set up down in the basement-- as this will be our "den", and keep the formal LR formal-- but we aren't rushing to get the furniture for that room since it's not a priority.

Since we have that room off the kitchen, which will be like an upstairs den sorta-- do you think we should keep the LR formal-- considering Sasha will only be 18 months or so when we move? Or should that be where we are spending our time? So confused!

If you have the room off the kitchen and the basement, then I would make the LR Formal if that's what you want!
