Spinoff to Lottery threads: How much is "a lot"?
How much is considered a BIG, life-changing lottery winning?
I think it would need to be 10 or more. 10 mil in payments is roughly 250k per year for 40 years.

IMO anything I don't have to work for is a lot !!! But I'm the loser that gets excited over a $5 win on a scratch off

Enough to pay all outstanding debts would be life changing.

750-1 mill
i would pay off my home and would alow me to save for 2 (future children) college tuitions and have a little extra for spending. since my home is paid off i can use my salary for more fun things for the future children
that would be life changing for me

1 million in installments is $25k a year for 40 years ($50k for 20 years), plus you need to pay income tax on it.
A lump-sum payment will net you about $300k.
I figure that DC's college will cost about $200k - $400k each.
I still wouldn't turn down a mil, but it wouldn't be life-changing for me, just make things easier.

Life-changing as in my husband & I can quit our jobs for good, can live comfortably and still donate... I'd say over 10 million.

At this point anything over 3 million would be life changing in the sense that we could own a home.

For me, any of the choices is life changing. they would all be one step closer to me eliminating my debt.
