spinoff to LIPA question - power lines and trees

Has anyone had LIPA come and take down trees that are on top of the power lines and/or line from poll to house. Not phone lines the actually power line. I am buying a house with a line of trees on the street that are WAY too big and are on top of the lines. I want them removed but I am unsure if LIPA does this or I have to pay to do this.

When we had our trees taken down, certain branches were dangling over the lines
Yes LIPA took them down but used a company called Asplungh (sp)

SWEET! so happy i think its ridiculous to have trees on top of power lines, your just asking for issues.

How did you go by doing this? called them and requested they come down to evaluate the trees and take them down?

Re: spinoff to LIPA question - power lines and trees

LIPA does this every spring. The come around and cut back any overgrown branches. The trees in front of your house actually belongs to the town. The tree in front of our house was deceased and everytime it rained, branches will fall off. I was afraid that it will take down the power line because the power line goes through the tree. So I called the town and the came down and removed the tree. They even grinded down the stump. Chat Icon

not LIPA but the town removed trees from my property. a few months ago a tree fell blocking the road so i called the town and within 30 minutes they came and removed the tree. they also tagged and later removed 3 other dead trees.
