spinoff to classes!

Did anyone not take any classes before giving birth? My hubby said to just watch youtube videos, lol!! I think he's crazy but since the classes are pricey we were trying to save on that.. although I feel like it may be worth it! Can I get by without taken anything?

I took a class but think it was a waste so I think you're fine to skip it. We took a preparation for childbirth class where they spoke about the benefits to breast feeding, what to expect if you have a csection, what the epidural does etc. they also did some Lamaze which I did use that to help labor at home (stayed home til I was 5cm). But you can def YouTube Lamaze and do the "he he who" on your own.
Once you are in the hospital the l&d nurse talks you through everything. Breathing pushing etc...and it was more helpful then the class they have better techniques and help you through the contractions and pushing.
Edit I delivered at Lij new Hyde park and found the l&d nurse amazing!!! Not sure about other hospitals.

You definitely don't need them.

If I had to pick only one class, I'd pick the BFing class.

I'd do a tour of the hospital too if it's free (and you don't want the labor class).
