spinoff to christmas tree thread

on average, how many ornaments do you have to put up (basic ornaments, not sentimental, like balls or bows, etc)

and how many lights go on a tree?

we are finally getting ours this wknd, and i just want to make sure we are ready....

I have a 7 foot tree. We have about 50 shatterproof ornaments (balls and other shapes). I also use 2 dozen small glass red balls on the inside branches closest to the trunk (they are shiny, reflect the inside light of the tree so nicely, and they're in a spot where DS or the dog can't knock them over or grab them).

Then on top of that we have maybe a dozen or more sentimental (and breakable) ornaments.

The tree looks nicely decorated, not overstuffed and not empty.

We get about a 7 foot tree each year and use 3 strands of lights. I'd say we have about 100 ornaments, but we don't generally use the big christmas balls or anything. We use smaller ornaments so you need more to make a statement.

The general rule is 100 bulbs per foot of tree.
We have a 9 foot tree. I have never counted the amount of ornaments but it is well over 100 and most are large.

We have 4 strands of lights (100 lights on each strand) on our 6 foot tree.

It is Okay...I wouldn't mind adding another strand or two next year.

As far as ornaments...our tree is pretty much two families combined...My personal ornaments, DH's Mom's personal sentimental ornaments, and our family ornaments. So we dont' ahve any ball ornaments on the tree...just sentimental ones!
