spinoff to chiropractor post...

Sorry... I'm full of questions today, it seems!

So, my daughter (13) seems to be experiencing growing pains. Her knees have been a bit painful for her, but the docs found nothing seriously wrong. (I should note that she is incredibly hypermobile, but the docs don't seem to think this is the cause for the pain... especially since she has grown more than 1/2" in the last three months)

Is this pain something a chiropractor can help with? They mentioned that as girls grow and develop hips, it can throw knees out of whack and put extra pressure on tendons and ligaments and such. I don't know much about chiropractic, but someone at work swears by it and suggested I take her.

And if it's worth a consultation, how does one go about finding a chiropractor that deals with children/teenagers (especially excessively hypermobile ones)?

I would not take her to a chiropractor. I would look into physical therapy. A PT could work with her on exercises to decrease/manage the pain.

I had this at that age as well. I went to an orthopedist who recommended physical therapy. I did get some relief from the PT and they taught me exercises to do at home on my own.

I would not take her to a chiropractor. She doesn't need an adjustment. Everything is stretching in her body, especially since you mentioned that she gained a lot of height in a short time.

As PP said, ask if physical therapy could help.
