Spinoff to birth announcements
When did you send them out? I had a newborn photoshoot when DD was 2 weeks, it took 3 1/2 weeks to see the images and now I have to pick 40 and then they will mail on a disk. So by the time I would have announcments made up, she will be like 8 weeks old. Pointless right?

I sent DDs out when she was almost 2 months. She was a NICU baby though and I didn't have her photos done until she was 4 weeks. Either way, those first few weeks with a newborn are exhausting. People get it. 
And with DS I'm pretty sure it was the same time frame also because I was just too damn tired to get them done before that

I just mailed mine out today and my boys will be 6 weeks on Sunday.

It took us a while too. I think I didn't send them out until DD was around 8 weeks. We didn't do a photo shoot, so it took some time to find a good picture.

DS was around 6 weeks. Could you ask your photographer to email you the one pic you plan on using for the birth announcement? That will speed up the process. We did that.

Spinoff to birth announcements
DS was born in July. He was baptized end of September. Announcements went in his thank you cards. I just couldn't get them out sooner due to laziness/ new to being a parent. But IMO better late than never.

I didn't send mine til 8 weeks. I did some pics at 2 weeks, some at 4. Then tinyprints screwed up the coloring 3 times so it was 8 weeks by the time I got them out.
If you know what ones you want, maybe they the photog can dropbox those to you while you wait for the cd.

Both times mine went out at about 3 months old. I think within the first 5 months is normal, it takes some time to do the photos and get everything together.

This. I sent them out the day before she turned three months. We had to do two shoots cause she screamed the entire first one (and most of the second one) so that delayed things!
