Spinoff to baby fever- moms who had baby fever BAD when they were still having kids but are now done...

Sometimes I feel like I will never ever feel "done" with having babies. I love babies so much and I love being a mom. I feel like after every single baby I have is a few months old, I will be craving another. So all you mommies who have officially closed up shop: if you used to have baby fever really bad, did it eventually stop after your last baby and then you knew you were done? Or did you decide to be done for other reasons (financial, physical, medical, whatever), and still have the craving even though you know you're done?

I want a third but I can say that I would never go for the 4th because:

1) I am not a complete crazy person which is what I would need to be to deal with my two, plus two more.

2) I would never want 4 c-sections. That freaks me out!

Shop is CLOSED after the next one!

If I could have 5 more, I would.

However, I don't have a good medical history and don't do pregnancy well. My first was 7 weeks early. And while my second was full term, I had to get progesterone shots every week for 20 weeks. And I was pulled out of work at 30 weeks. I also had more dr appts and sono's to keep an eye on the bean.

Both kids are happy and healthy, so I'm fortunate there. We both said that after #2 we are done. It's tough because I know that I can have more kids, it just doesn't make sense for us.

I think I want only 2, but would be happy if the second pregnancy turned out to be twins. My mom only had me, but always wanted more - so I'll just give her lots of grandchildren instead! My DH is an only child too - so we have to populate the family!

I actually, and shockingly, want a third baby. My c sec surgery did not go well and I was told a third c sec is going to be aproblem . I feel so sad that I can't have any more, and I'm kind of in denial

I had baby fever when baby #4 was about 5 months. I told Dh how I felt and he felt the same way. I even spoke to a midwife and everything b/c I wanted a home birth this time. I was so excited!

then one day I woke up and for no real reason, I just felt different. I couldn't see anyone after my AnnaSophia (my 4th) and I couldn't picture my kids with another sibling- not even a brother. The family we are now just feels right and complete. And at that moment I knew we were done.

I think I will always have it until my body closes up shop on its own. it doesn't mean i actually want tons and tons of kids. well, if i were rich and had endless support and didn't have to work, sure. but in reality, i have my limits. i think i will always have the itch, though. i also don't think i could ever do anything to truly close up shop because there are too many what ifs. one of my friends recently said something very funny. she just had her 4th baby. she said she was trying to decide on birth control because she can't have any more kids. i asked if she was going to have surgery to close up--and she said no, she just couldn't--what if her husband died and she fell in love with a millionaire who wanted more kids. i was

DH felt it was best for our family if we did not have anymore children after I gave birth to DD#2, and got a vasectomy in May. In total, we have 5 children. Though I can see his point, I still am very sad that I will not have another. Right now, DD#1 is turning 2 next Wed. and DD#2 is 9.5 months, but I really want another one.

I'm not done - we only have one and want one more. But I can honestly say we will only have two children (unless of course a second pregnancy turns out to be multiples). DH will probably get the snip after the next one. No matter how much I might like having a baby and might crave a third, I know we chose to have two children for many importnat reasons - including financial, quality of life, attention that we can give to each, our ages, etc. So even though I do have baby fever now, and knowning me, I probably will have again after baby #2, we are committed to just two.

PS: It helps that friends and family of ours have more than 2 (or even just 2 but 2 that are very rambunctious!) and that has given us a sneak preview of what might be in store for us if we changed our minds. And we're scared, very scared! (I hope no one takes offense, we just are not cut out for a large family)

I can't exactly answer this question correctly right now. I am just starting my 9th month with #3--which will be my last pregnancy...probably.

I say "probably" because I am not doing anything permanent to prevent a pregnancy. Even though I'll be having a c-section and I'm in my late 30s...I just know I couldn't live with the actual finality of it all.

I've always had terrible baby fever (which, if you really knew me, is so surprising because I am NOT a kid person), so I'm glad I won't be closing up shop in a medical way. That way, I guess I'll always have that glimmer of "What if we had just one more..." to keep me going for a while.

However, the REALITY of the situation is NO...we are done after this. I mean, you have to stop at some point, KWIM? I am looking forward to moving on with our family of five and not--as a friend described us--"hitting the reset button" over and over again. Also, we are no longer "young." Even though I got pregnant almost instantly with the first three pregnancies, I miscarried the third one and then it took me a year to conceive this time. Emotionally, I just can't do that again.

Just trying to cherish the excitement and anticipation of these last three weeks (!) of pregnancy, and look forward to the rest of our lives!

DH said 2 was a good number. I said I wanted to keep the option for a third open. He immediately got on board with a third and we do hope to be blessed with another at some point. But then he tells me this is the last time I can get baby fever. While I know in my heart 3 is plenty of children for our family, I hope I feel done after a third. Like you, I wonder if I will know and feel "we're done". We'll see. I am sure I will get baby fever again if we have a third but unless we win the lottery I can't imagine anymore than 3.

I have 3. 3 c-sections, the last was NOT a good recovery. I always wanted 4 or 5, but my doctor advised me against anymore.

We knew after the 2nd. We got a girl and a boy and we were done.
