Spinoff to anniversary gift
For the past month or so, DH has been hinting at getting an SLR digital camera. He loves taking pics for fun and he’s actually pretty good at it. the problem is, he’s looking at cameras that are $700++ 
His b-day and our anniversary are 1 week apart. Should I get him one?  money is kind of tight...

I second checking out Costco. I got my camera there, and it was much cheaper than anywhere else (it's not SLR, but it was pretty pricey).

If money is tight, no, I wouldn't get it. I'd save up for it - by then the technology is only going to get better and prices will come down.
If you're stuck on it, perhaps it could be your combined Anniv. gift (for the both of you)...or buy last year's model...
