Spinoff to acid reflux medicines

My DD's ped said that DD has reflux, but not severe enough to warrant meds. I think that it can be pretty bad for her though. Please tell me the symptoms/ way DC acted before meds that made your ped put him/her on them. I wonder if my ped is just being too conservative. Thanks!

All babies have reflux to some degree. It is a bit of a misnomer to say that a baby has reflux as if having it is abnormal. So, I am wondering if your doctor was talking about normal reflux or something worse. My DS did need medication for it. He spit up constantly. He was not keeping down enough. He arched backward a lot during feedings. Some babies with reflux have difficulty lying down. Sometimes I feel that pedatricians know best and if they say it is fine, it probably is, but sometimes I feel that some pediatricians do not take GI issues seriously enough. My pediatrician doesn't hesitate to refer us to specialists. If you aren't sure, insist on asking another doctor.

Both my ds's were put on meds for it while in the NICU. DS #1 was vomiting and having a hard time putting on weight. DS #2 would just cry and scream out of nowhere. At first the nurses thought he was in pain from heart surgery and then they listened to me about the family history of reflux. So they started him on reflux meds instead of morphine.

Some of DS's symptoms included:

Spitting up (you could tell it was painful by the look on his face)
screaming/fighting feeds
Vomiting
Arching back
Spitting
