spinoff from "how are you dressing your infant for bed on these warm days?"
I was just reading the responses to this post & almost everyone puts a onesie under their DCs footie pj's. Is this what most parents do? On cool nights she wears fleece footie pj's with a little knit blanket. Since it's warm out tonight, she's in a light weight, long sleeve cotton footie outfit. I always thought she'd be too warm with a onsie on underneath but now that I see so many people do it, i'm wondering if that's why she used to wake up some nights, am I freezing my little girl ? We keep the heat at 69 at night & 71 during the day. Do you put onesies under their pj's?

I used to in the beginning bc I thought thats what you were supposed to do. But my kids always got a little too warm no matter else they had on. So since they've been about 5 months they haven't had a onsie on underneath anything. They wear they're pajamas by themselves and have a fleece blanket in bed with them.

I'd thought you were supposed to put a onesie under feetie pjs too, but DH forgot once on a warm-ish night and DS was fine so now we do that sometimes. If it wasn't so hot in his room tonight he'd have just feetie pjs under his swaddleme, but it's 77 in there so I did just a onesie instead.

We do not put a onesie underneath her. She gets hot when she sleeps, and our apt is warm usually, even with the fan and windows open right now.

no onesie here! Both my girls are comfortable in just pj's. now that it is warmer, they only wear a onesie and then get swaddeled

No onesie here! DS was born 8/26/11, so it was still warm for quite some time after he was born. He slept in a cotton footed sleeper then. Once winter came it was fleece or cotton. Tonight he slept in a short sleeve shorts one piece. With the window open a bit! I try to keep a fleece blanket on him, but he seems to have other ideas.

I never have. I was always told to dress her in however many layers I would wear myself. So at night, it's pj's and a sleep sack. On especially warm nights, i'll even just put her in a onesie and a sleepsack (because I myself would want to wear short sleeves and shorts if I were under a blanket).

I've never done that. In fact, I'd never even heard of it until my older son was at least 4 or 5 months old and I read it on here. You'd know if she was waking up from the cold if her hands and feet were icy.

DD wears a onesie under all of her clothes, day or night. I think of it as a comfort thing not a warmth thing. I feel like it keeps the zipper off her skin and her diaper in place.

Unless it's like 4degrees outside and I'm doing it for added warmth, nope - I don't put a onesie under footsie pjs.

Same. Once when I was watching my niece I caught the skin on her belly in the zipper of her sleeper and I will never forget it.

with everything i do 1 more layer than what i have on or a little thicker. so if i am wearing shorts and a tee to bed, my infant (7 weeks old) i have him in footsie, long sleeve pjs.

Re: spinoff from "how are you dressing your infant for bed on these warm days?"
She always has a onesie on, but her room is never the right temperature. It's either too hot or too cold, because there's only one heating zone in our house. Yesterday in the heat (before her A/C was put in) she was sleeping just in a shortsleeved onesie, no socks or pants (i won't open the window at night bc i'm paranoid). During the winter months she had a fleece or terry footie pj with long sleeved onesie underneath.
I also can't put pants/shirt pj's on her bc she pulls the shirt over her head and it makes me nervous, esp bc she is mostly on her tummy.

i find that it keeps the diaper in place better with less likely it will leak! really the only reason why i do it under a one piece pajama..on hotter days i might do just a onesie and pants instead...but we have central air so it is never too hot
then when they are older..and they where tops and bottoms it is to keep the diaper unexposed (i hate when they are sticking out the back) and their backs not exposed as well

Re: spinoff from "how are you dressing your infant for bed on these warm days?"
I stopped putting on pjs once he grew out of his 3month ones. Its been pretty warm so now he sleeps in a onesie and i cover his legs with a blanket which he likes to kick off. DS is just like DH in that he prefers cool over warm. He only complains when hes hot and lately will not even drink his formula if i warm it up and it has to be cold.
