Spinoff: AQUATOPIA or KALAHARI?

Trying to decide which one to go to during Thanksgiving week with a 2.5 year old and 5 year old. Which do you think is better? Thanks!

Re: Spinoff: AQUATOPIA or KALAHARI?

I have heard that Kalahari is better for younger kids and Aquatopia is better for older kids.

I think with the age of your kids I'd go with Kalahari

I was considering Camelback for winter break for both winter sports and waterpark as a bonus.

What didn't you like about Camelback?

We had a great time at Kalahari this year.

We had to decide between Camelback and Kalahari this summer and went with Camelback. I think it was a great choice because there was so much to do. The indoor water park was great and so clean. There is so much extra to do there that you could easily spend 4 days there and not be bored. The main reason we did not chose Kalahari was because they are still building about 6 more water slides that do no open until 2017 so we figured we will check them out when they are complete. My girls are 9 and 11 so maybe that could be a factor, camelback only had one small baby only play area. A few years back we did Great Wolf and found it to be over crowded, bad food and not as clean.

I think the indoor Aquatopia park is great for little kids age six and below. Their outdoor park is better for older kids, ages 9-18. I prefer kalahari for ages 4-12.
My kids are ages 9 and almost 7. I know that my 9 yo felt the indoor area at camelback Aquatopia was babyish. He really liked their outdoor waterpark better. My dd liked the indoor camelback, but preferred kalahari.

I am basing the above on the depth of the wave pool, the slides, the indoor/outdoor pool, the basketball pool, lazy river, and the slides. A five foot verses six foot verses eight foot wave pool makes a big difference in terms of the height of the waves you get in the wave pool. My 9 yo felt the small indoor wave pool was too small and I have to agree.

For the price, I felt that we had received much more value for the dollar at kalahari.

Edit. If you are going for both ski and water, then yes, I would absolutely go to camelback. I just felt for the 350 vs 150 price I did not get an additional 200 of value. Plus I really liked the swim up bar at kalahari the most.

Kalahari has no wave pool, so that is a deal killer for us unless we find some super amazing deal. Plus it doesn't look like there is anything else to do there other than the arcarde? Their website is awful though, so maybe there is and they just don't show it.

Aquatopia has some scary slides from what I've heard from friends. But there is more to do on the property.

We are planning to go thanksgiing week so unfortunatly likely no skiing or tubing.

Is Aquatopia usually more expensive than kalahari? Groupon has a deal for both kalahari and aquatopia but aquatopia comes out to about 200 a night v. 300 for kalahari lol.. thats actually why i was considering aquatopia

Just so you know I just paid $300 for the night direct on their website so that Groupon price isn't a deal at all. Unless they are giving you something more with it?

If you can ever manage it, hit them up mid-week, it's SO much cheaper. We paid around $130/night for Kalahari for the Desert Room, we went from Wed-Fri.

The Groupon comes with a $50 arcade credit. Not sure that is useful for anything, but it does come with it. I purchased it on groupon for the night we selected it was $230 on Groupon plus a 50 credit and it was $261 on the site witout the credit. NOt a huge difference but a little less .. plus ebates has 6 percent on groupon right now
