spinoff - scheduled c-section mommies

So last time, I was induced so I had a epi

this time, the doctor said they will do a spinal instead of an epi

Now, last time, I had a cathether in and they removed it the next day and I did not feel a thing

Is the protocol the same with a spinal, will I still be numb when they remove the cathether?

when do they remove it?

When I had my c-section I had a spinal not an epi.
When they removed my cathether I wasn"t numb anymore.....but, you really don't feel anything. It didn"t hurt at all!!

Oh and I wanted to add....I wasn't numb when they put it in either.
That was a bit uncomfortable....But, after all the other pain..that was nothing!!

I was not numb the next day when they removed it. I was nervous as heck. As I was telling the nurse how scared I was of the pain, she pulled it out. I was like Chat Icon did you just pull it out??? She said, see, it didn't hurt at all! She was right! No big deal at all & I am a wimp.

I had a spinal and cath. They were both removed the next morning. A little less than 24 hours later and I didn't feel a thing. It felt great to get it all out!

Nope - you won't be numb anymore....but it doesn't hurt....they tell you to take a deep breathe and they just pull it out. There is a little burning sensation for a minute, but then it went away. Couldn't wait to pee on my own!!

Re: spinoff - scheduled c-section mommies

I had a spinal and was terrified of the cath coming out the next morning and my staples coming out a few days after that. Both were nothing at all! The worst part of the whole thing was the nurse taking the tape off my back where the spinal was inserted - yowza! I definitely dropped an f-bomb. Chat Icon

Re: spinoff - scheduled c-section mommies

I was totally out for the c-section, but they put the catheter in b4 they knockeed me out. So much was going on I barely felt it go in. They took it out the next night about 24 hours later and I wasn't numb or anything. It was nothing to take out. I felt it more go in and taking out was so easy.

Ditto and no......the numbness wore off within a few hrs. of having the spinal. Getting the catheter out was no big deal, it took 2 seconds and it didn't feel like anything.
