Spinoff - Roomba!
Does it really work, and is it worth getting? I've heard very mixed reviews but I saw the favorable comments on the other thread
I have three hairy, shedding, fur babies. Does it work well for pet hair?

Re: Spinoff - Roomba!
I don't have one but I will forever think of this story when I see one...
Jesse Newton found out the hard way what happens when a robotic vacuum cleaner encounters a dog turd, and it isn’t pretty.
Newton’s Roomba is scheduled to clean the living room of his home in Little Rock, Arkansas, at 1.30am each day, so that the family wakes up to a clean space. That all changed this month when his puppy Evie had an accident on the rug during the night, leading to what he described as the “poopocalypse”.
As Newton explains in a graphic Facebook post, the Roomba ran over the dog feces and then continued its cleaning cycle around the house, spreading the mess over “every conceivable surface” and resulting in “a home that closely resembles a Jackson Pollock poop painting”.

I was contemplating getting one. This NEVER crossed my mind and I have a 15 year old yorkie who has taken to relieving himself wherever and whenever he pleases. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the roomba 595 pet vaccuum and I love it. It took a few times for it to realize where the walls were, it got stuck under our dresser a few times, etc. but you could set up a virtual wall to avoid certain areas so it doesn't get stuck. I have it running 3x/week while I'm at work, and it's a huge help

I think the important thing to remember is that it's not really meant to do a deep cleaning-it's meant for maintenance in between deep cleans

Ours runs daily (we only have hardwood floors) and it does a fantastic job. Makes my weekend sweep much easier!

We have a Siberian husky that sheds just laying down. We run the roomba 2x per week (on mostly hardwood). It doesn't mean I don't have to vacuum still every 2 weeks but I am least don't have dog tumbleweeds all over my house.

This is exactly why I want one - just to get SOME of the animal hair in between real cleanings. We have only hardwoods so we have blowing tumbleweeds within a day of vacuuming. I figure a Roomba could at least help but DH wasn't convinced it would work on pet hair. I think i made up my mind that I'm getting one!

This exactly.
I have one and I use it during the week while I'm at work, but I still need to do a real vacuuming weekly. But with two kids and a dog it helps keep the house manageable and it definitely does work.
I always highly recommend it. I'm shocked at what it picks up.
