Can someone explain to me the proper way to sit on the bike w/o your knees hurting?

The best thing you can do is ask your instructor before class to set you up on the bike - which is something they should be doing when you are new to the class. The two most common things are sitting too close, where your knee extends over your foot. When the pedals are parallel, your front knee should be right over the ball of your foot and not in front. The second thing would be that the resistance is not high enough. Light resistance will killlll your knees because there is nothing pushing back to support your body weight. Hope that helps!

When you stand next to the bike the seat should be parallel to your hips...that is the height the seat should be at.
When sitting on the bike, when your leg is in the highest position on the pedal your calf and thigh should make a 90 degree angle.
