Spin-off to the bathing suit thread...babies and pools...
at what age can a baby go into a chlorinated pool?
Saf T Swim starts at 2 month, and friend's DD goes, but another post made me think you have to wait?
Also..would you bring a 2 month old to swim lessons, and drop them off for a lesson? I would not, but curious if anyone did, and if so were there any problems? Friend is thinking of doing it...

I wouldn't drop off. Most people I know who take their young children to a swim "lesson" stay in the pool with them.

Re: Spin-off to the bathing suit thread...babies and pools...
I taught swim lessons for 6 years. My youngest student was 5 months old. Most cases of kids under 1 maybe even up to 18 months, they seem to take M&M classes.
THe rest of the time if its a private lesson the parent waits just outside the pool area (out of DC's view)
As a mother, I wasnt ready for DS to be supervised by anyone other than DH or myself or maybe my FIL before he was 18 months...(amazing how at 17 I was telling parents they had to leave their DC with me and leave the room but I couldnt do the same with my own DS)

Yeah I was thinking about SafT swim too. The infant classes are with mommy.

I wouldn't leave my DC but would do a m&m class. I was thinking of it too, did you get a price?

Re: Spin-off to the bathing suit thread...babies and pools...
there have been links that show asthma is more prevalent in babies that were exposed to chlorine early on - typically under 6 months (in indoor pools where ventilation is not wonderful)... i think there was a study done in the UK about it.
i have adult onset asthma and didn't want to give emma another 'risk' factor for it - not matter how slim!
i also thought it was interesting that NO swim diapers come in smaller than a size 3 (though maybe size 2 - but i've never found any).

No, I didnt get prices from them yet. I did check NYSC at the deer park outlets. It was 6 or 8 sessions for like $21 a class if your not a member, $18 if you are.
