Spin Off to STAR
As a new homeowner, do you still get the previous homeowners STAR rebate? Would a new homeowner apply for this additional rebate program? And how do you apply for this program? Do you have to go to your town? Sorry for all the questions, but I have no idea.
TIA!

Re: Spin Off to STAR
If the previous owners had STAR, then yes, you'll have it for the upcoming year.
You need to contact your Town tax assessor's office and ask for the STAR application.
Town of Brookhaven deadline is March 1.

Re: Spin Off to STAR
as the new homeowner, the previous homeowners star rebates are in affect, especially if you moved in mid year. what i suggest you do is call the town and confirm the taxes without any rebates because when i moved into my home the old homeowners (who were seniors and had veterans expemption) star rebates were in affect and we got hit hard when they adjusted the exepmtions. I know that when i do my taxes they my accountant does it for me but if you look on line (nassau or suffolk county) you will find the application.

Re: Spin Off to STAR
Thanks ladies! I will call the Town of Babylon and look into getting the application and find out the cut off date for the application. Don't want to miss out on this rebate.
