Spin off: How soon can I go in the pool AFTER baby?

Anyone know? I am due July 23rd so is it worth it to buy a bathing suit for August/September or will I not be allowed in the pool for a while anyway?

Funny I was thinking of this the other day.
My DH keeps saying- oh after the baby comes you can hang out by the pool while she sleeps etc...
But them I'm like- darn- I wonder if I'll be allowed in it.
Plus the bleeding right? And no tampons allowed so I don't see how a bathing suit is even possible.

Curious to see the answers on this one...

umm yeah so I am thinking a MINIMUM of six weeks. . . and then for me its not even worth it since that is mid September.

The only pool I go in is my in laws, so I can always just wear shorts and a T shirt if I find out that I CAN use the pool.

That's a good question. I bet the doctor would say to wait till your 6 week PP check up. I don't know though...

And yeah, you're definitely gonna be bleeding for a while. It's pretty gross. lol

Your question did make me laugh a little! I had my DS at the end of last June. If you are anything like me, you won't want to go anywhere near a pool or a bathing suit for a while. Between the bleeding, the bloating and extra weight, having no energy... Let's just say I didn't swim again until May of this year!

You can't go in the water until after your 6 weeks PP exam. You can't wear tampons and you will probably still be bleeding until your PP exam. You don't want germs getting "up there". You are very vulnerable to infections until everything heals up.

ETA - Your questions aren't silly but after the baby is born, you will laugh at everything you thought you could accomplish.

Swimming might be out but Margarita drinking poolside will more than make up for it.

I am glad to see I am not the only one who had no clue about the pool after giving birth. I was just complaining to DH last night about this. I am so shocked that we were not allowed in the pool - I didnt even think of the bleeding

So here comes another dumb question - are we allowed in the pool before giving birth???? Are we not allowed in too close to our birth date?

See the other thread that I posted on this today... some of the girls were kind enough to link to Baby center- but it does seem to be 100% fine- and even beneficial.
I'm 36 weeks and plan to go in this weekend!

I was so sad the day I realized I wouldn't get into a pool at all this summer.

And then I was happy I wouldn't have to deal with the self-loathing that putting on a bathing suit causes.

The only way you're going in a pool this summer is if you do it before you give birth... and up to your knees after.

i just left the hospital today! They said no swimming until after your doctor clears you at your 6 week appt. So, you will probably be cleared for late Aug.

I had my DD June 18th and I was able to go in the pool by end of July. I was done bleeding at that point.

I def did NOT look hot in a bathing suit, but it was my own pool, so who cared!!
