spiking a watermelon

A few girlfriends are coming to visit this weekend and I thought I would spike a watermelon. I've eaten it before but I've never made it myself and I wanted to see if anyone knows how to?? What liquor goes the best in it?

I would use rum. vodka is another good one

I never did it, but I recall my friends just making a hole in it and pouring vodka in it slowly over a few days.

cut a deep "core" just large enough to fit the neck of a bottle of vodka into, then let the watermellon slowly absorb the vodka from the upturned bottle.

I have also hear of people using Hypodermic needles.... (doctor friend of friend)

After you cut the hole, and only cut 1, you need to take a long skewer and stick the inside of the melon all over. Otherwise your vodka will never get into the melon.

I have used just a good brand of vodka, but I imagine a flavored vodka would be nice too.
