Spell-check run amok changes names in Pa. yearbook

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - A computer spell-checker run amok christened several Pennsylvania high school students with new -- and in some cases unflattering -- last names.
Middletown Area High School's yearbook listed Max Zupanovic as "Max Supernova," Kathy Carbaugh as "Kathy Airbag" and Alessandra Ippolito as "Alexandria Impolite," just to name a few.
"It was kind of funny, but kind of rude at the same time," Ippolito said.
The mistakes were found on four of the yearbook's 176 pages, co-editor Amanda Gummo said.
Ed Patrick of Taylor Publishing, which printed the book, said his company is responsible for the errors and will provide free stickers printed with the correct names.
"It happens all the time, every year," Patrick said. "Look at any yearbook in the country."

That sucks!
And providing stickers is the best this guy can do?? I'd be pretty pizzed if that happened to my kid. Espcially since HS yearbooks are not cheap!!

And providing stickers is the best this guy can do?? I'd be pretty pizzed if that happened to my kid. Espcially since HS yearbooks are not cheap!!
That happened to a yearbook at our hs one year...they gave out stickers too.

In my high school, they preliminarily printed the wrong salutarian (sp?). When we got the year book there was already a big sticker covering up the old one with the new.

Ok its bad enough (yet slightly funny) to have your name totally changed but to work that hard for four years and be named the salutarian only to be a sticker in the yearbook??????????

I felt worse for the girl the sticker was covering! She was a friend of mine. The new guy was my ex- I tried to rip the sticker out

I was going to say the same thing, I'd be pretty upset if that was me or my kid!!

that's funny! and let's just where i went to college was right next to Middletown, PA.... not exactly a buzzing metropolis. HS in that area of PA is a BIG deal. those kids are pizzed!

yikes-- that's kinda funny, but embarrassing.
I know when my name is spell checked, it comes up as Rancid Abrasion-- I would so not want that under my yearbook pic!!!

I think that's pretty funny
In my year book there was a pic of this kid who I guess you could say was a class clown.. he was wearing a thong and sticking his butt out while looking over his shoulder..it was in the candid shots pages so there are a million pics on each page and I guess it slipped passed editing...
our yearbooks all have stickers covering his butt
