Speech evaluations
Hi
Does anyone know of where I can have my 18 month olds speech evaluated? Thanks My ped wants me to wait till two years old...so I can't ask her.

you can request an evaluation thru early intervention. Depending on where you live either Nassau, suff, or NYC.

yes, call the county for an EI evaluation (I"m an SLP).

They will send out evaluators who will test and see if he meets the requirements.

They don't need insurance its mostly paid by the county, If you have insurance I believe they will try to get some money back from them at least in nassau county they do. But insurance is not neccessary

It's free in NY for the eval and all services/preschool (if necessary).

Just to let you know to get an EI evaluation your doctor has to sign off on the paperwork...
Check your insurance carrier to see if they cover speesch and evaluations and go from there

The doctor has to sign off on it whether or not he agrees with the evaulation
