I need a bit of educating please on different medical specialists that may be needed along the way. I have seen some posts where people are seeing neonatologists, hematologists, ect...and am wondering when this might be needed. Just had RLP, so I will see what info that gives me about any issues I might have. I just want to be prepared. Also, I hear/read a lot about seeing an OB who specializes in "high risk" pregnancies, but what exactly qualifies an OB as a "high risk" doc?

Re: Specialists
The kind of doctor you see will be determined by the issues you have. I have a pituitary issue so I see an endocronologist. This effects my fertility so I also see a reproductive endocronologist.
Not all women with fertility issues have to see a high risk obgyn. Some graduate to the regular ones! I think high risk doctors have greater experience with such circumstances. I don't think there is any certification or something like that.
Good luck!

Re: Specialists
Just to clarify, I am currently working with RSofNY. I have had two consecutive MC (one while under care of OB/GYN, and one this May while with RE). So far I have been able to get pregnant without much medical intervention, but haven't made it past 8 weeks. This last PG I was on Endometrin for lutual phase issues. If I get PG again, and by the grace of God make it to the point where I am under the care of an OB, I feel based on my history (and anxiety level) I should be working with a high risk doc. I switched to a new OB after first MC. They are nice, and I have been told that they are a high risk practice, but I need to know what that really means! I want to be sure that I am working with people who really know their stuff.
