speaking of food shopping
Which is the best and worst place to shop?
Best- Waldbaums. They double and sometimes triple coupons. Prices are pretty good too compared to other stores. Also they take other food store coupons!
Uncle G's- Great coldcuts, deli area and meats are great too.
Worst-Shoprite Doesn't take coupons and don't like managers.....

Re: speaking of food shopping
I look through the ads to find out who has what I need on sale....I find myself at Waldbaums the most and KK for Boars head meats....

Re: speaking of food shopping
My Waldbaums sux! They don't double any coupon ever.
I am trying to get in the habit of going to shop n stop but the layout of the store annoys me a bit.

Your Shoprite doesn't take coupons?
For me, Shoprite is the best place cause they usually have awesome prices on meat and stuff.
Worst place : King Kullen. Feel like their deals aren't good at all

Re: speaking of food shopping
Most expensive is King Kullen ( they are ridiculous in price difference ) and Stop and Shop
Best pirice- Pathmark but their selection leaves a lot to be desired.
I always check out Waldbaums and shoprite
My fav stores are hands down Trader Joes , Whole foods and Fairway but the prices are ouch and I always end up needing things from the regular grocere anyway

I don't like the Shoprite by us but it's the cheapest so that's where we go. We've tried Stop and Shop which is much nicer but we wound up spending about $50 more for the same stuff.

Re: speaking of food shopping
best: no competition in the best... FAIRWAY (in plainview) great prices, amazing quality, huge selection
the only runner-up for us as far as supermarkets are concerned is the local king kullen in setauket. It's very clean, and has fresh veggies, and a decent dairy isle... good for our emergency food runs.
Worst: after getting used to fairway, most other places are rather haven't walked into a 'real' grocery store outside of king kullen in ages........

I have been meaning to try fairway
I love Trader Joe's
then Super Walmart- which we don't have here but I go to the one by woodbury commons when I go up there
then stop and shop- I find there prices have dropped a bit

Re: speaking of food shopping
Stop & Shop has the best selection but has mediocre sales and okay regular prices. They seem to have the best self-checkouts out of any of the supermarkets.
Waldbaums has good selection but terrible shelf prices and okay sales.
Pathmark has okay shelf prices, good sales, but terrible selection.
King Kullen won't even be dignified with an answer.
Shoprite would be the best, but they're coupon Nazis, their stores are pretty run down, and there aren't that many around here.
I'd say a combination of Stop & Shop and Pathmark (although PM has gotten worse since A&P/Waldbaums bought them) is my choice.

Re: speaking of food shopping
You guys have a lot of supermarkets on LI--I'm jealous!
I have a choice of a disorganized Super Stop & Shop, an overpriced A & P, a nasty Pathmark or specialty stores like Wholefoods.
We go with Stop & Shop n/c it is on Dh's way home & get a few speciality items in Wholefoods.

Re: speaking of food shopping
I pretty mcuh like every store. But my last resort store is Pathmark...the 3 that I have gone to are utterly disorganized and it's alwaays dark and grimy to me...and their prices aren't as good as Waldbaums or Stop n Shop.

Re: speaking of food shopping
We have a Pathmark by us that is decent, but doesn't have a huge selection. I love the Super Stop & Shops around (up by Roosevelt Field Mall) but there aren't any that are that close to me. King Kullen is our next stop - but its pricey.
I go to Trader Joes about once a month, but still need the 'regular' supermarkets for stuff as well.

Re: speaking of food shopping
Is it just me or is the Patchogue Pathmark like the only decent Pathmark around? Shirley is a hellhole.
Most S&S's are pretty good though.
