Speaking of blues clues.. a little story.. was I too sensative?

Ok so My son is 2 1/2 and obsessed with Blues clues like most kids his age. I don't like to make a habbit of leaving him in front of the TV and walking away...
We watch together and I point out things and try to reinforce what the show is teaching him.

Anyway one day I was at my MIL's house.. it was a small family gathering but I dont remember what the occasion was. And my FBIL (now bil) and a few other of DH's family memebers and i were sitting and talking.
My son had put blues clues on and my FBIL said something like " It is really dumb that Blue is the only animal that cant talk.. everyone else talks even the mailbox and salt shaker"
So I came back right away with.. well if blue could talk there really wouldn't be a show.. the whole show is blue giving clues about things since she can't just come right out and tell you.

He made this UGLY face at me and goes.. " Well somebody has way too much time on her hands" and he laughed but it was said very rude!!!!!

I was FURIOUS and got really offended by this.

Would you have felt the same way or would you have laughed it off??

BTW he also has children but they are like 10 and 12 now.

Oh I would of been mad as well cuz basically he is saying you need to get a life and do o ther things. Honestly he forgets what its liketo have a young child at home and to watch tv and spend that quality time with a young child and watch tv with them.

How did he know that Blue doesnt talk and the rest do? He mustve been watching pretty intensely when your son put it on...or is he a closet Blues Clues watcher and was mad that you didnt agree with his analyzation? Chat Icon Either way, not sure why it would irk him so much that you understand the premise of the show. Maybe its just the people I know because most Moms & Dads with young kids know the shows pretty well. I cant tell you how many conversations my DH and I or my brother and I have had over kids shows. And BTW, I cant tell the difference between Joe & Steve but my DH or son correct me if Im wrong.

next time ask who has more time on their hands - people that wonder why a cartoon character can't speak or those know a cartoon is a cartoon and don't bother questioning it.
