Space Heaters
Do you use them in your DC's room? Syd's room is over the garage and it's freaking freezing in there. Do you think I can use one for naps?

Re: Space Heaters
Hey I was just looking at these online. I am going to buy one in case our heat stops working again.
I think it would be fine to use.

I have one that I used to use in my old apartment all the time and never had a problem but I guess with the baby I always second guess.... I have one of those oil ones that look like a radiator.

Buy the oil filled ones. In my experience, they are safer than electric ones. They turn off if it tips over. DeLonghi makes a good one and it is not too expensive.

Noah's room is the coldest in the house, but he sleeps in a sleeping bag and he is as toasty as a bug in a rug!!!
I do on occasion use an oil filled radiator, it is safe and the hot air isn't blowing or anything.

Re: Space Heaters
Sydney's room is also the coldest in the house so we do use an oil filled one.

Re: Space Heaters
Thanks ladies, I have the oil filled one and will try it tonight. On another note... I was going to buy a sleep sack but she likes to move around in her crib, can they stand up in them?

she's probably too old for the sleep sack now - I dress Emily in two layers in the winter - she wears a long sleeved cotton PJ set and then a fleece footed zipper sleeper over her PJs. That usually keeps her really warm.

Re: Space Heaters
We do use a space heater, however, she is in the room with us, so godforbid anything happened, we'd know. I also bought those thermal pjs from Target and layer those under fleece footie pjs.

Re: Space Heaters
We use an oil one, which is safer and somehow, I don't know how, DH installed a thermostat so it keeps her room at a constant temperature during the night, and there's a timer, so it turns on an hour before her bedtime, and turns off an hour after she wakes up.

We have one by DeLonghi and it's called "safe heat" (what ever that means). We keep it on the lowest setting at night, up high on her dresser with nothing else around it. This is our second winter using it.

I noticed they had some on clearance at the Carter's outlet that have snaps at the bottom so you can separate their legs which would allow them to move still but they only go up to size 9 mos I think.

Re: Space Heaters
My sister used to use an electric one in my nieces room and she noticed that whenever she used it, the baby would cough alot more during the night. I'm not sure if it was because it made the air too dry?

Re: Space Heaters
We use one in DD's room at night because her room gets colder than ther est of the house at night. During the day thought he way the sun beats in it gets hotter so we don't need it then.

Re: Space Heaters
well I used it last night and we all survived! Her room was nice and warm, she actually slept until 6:15 considering she has been waking up freezing at 5:30 the past few mornings...so not sure if it was a coincidence or not but I will keep using it.
