I would consider South Merrick to me anything south of Merrick Rd. Most likely kids would go to Kennedy High School.
Merrick Woods is an area of say "Mid Merrick". I'm not sure exactly how many blocks it covers, but most likely kids would go to Calhoun High School. I love Merrick Woods.
Personally, i'd rather Merrick Woods, and that's where I hope to one day buy my home.
