Sorta PR: Does anyone know the cost of COBRA for BCBS PPO

I am trying to figure out of we had to take out COBRA for about 11 days for BCBS PPO how much would that cost for a family of 3.?

Don't know specifically about bcbs but united healthcare cost me over $1000/mth for my family of three. Also I do believe you have to pay monthly, don't think you can pay for only 11days of it.

I once was on COBRA for Empre BCBC PPO and paid $600/month for just me. Granted my plan was amazing and I could go to the doctor anywhere in the US and never paid any additional out of pocket expenses. It will depend on what the current deal is with your company.

I just got this form from my HR dept so i'm just reading it off there... not sure if it's the same for everyone?

It says for Cobra BCBS PPO - Family it was $1163.82 but is now subsidized for the first 9 months and would be $407.34.

COBRA payments also depend on the company you work with....

my DH has BCBS and for a family of 3 our insurance is $1300 and change... DH only pays 10% but if he were to loose his job he would be responsible for the entire amount.

so i would speak to HR

i took cobra for a few mths as bcbs paid for ivf & my currant ins did not it was 598 for single (which i did) & 1325 for family.

It depends on the cost the company pays the insurer. Everyone is going to be different. But it should average about $1000 a month.

You definitely need to speak with your HR department.

COBRA rates will differ by company and by plan.

The premium is 100% to 102% of the total rate - including employer and employee contributions. So chances are it will be very high, unfortunately.

The COBRA subsidy rates (where you only pay 35% of the premium) applies if you were involuntarily terminated (i.e. laid off, fired).

You will need to pay for the whole month - partial premium payments typically are not allowed.

Thanks so much everyone for all of your responses. I actually did call HR and found out that I have LTD, so now Cobra won't be an option.
