Soooo sick this week and they will not give me antibiotics!!!!!
it hurts when I swallow, my glands are swollen and my ears are burning. i've been to the doctor twice in two days crying to give me something. They think it's viral...so they told be to wait it out. I am dying and my husband found me sobbing uncontrollable last night at 200am b/c i felt like poo!!! i took tylenol for the pain in my throat, which helped some but not completely...any recs...did the neti pot, tea with honey/lemon, etc...
help me!!!

Awwww I feel your pain  I had a really bad cold a few weeks ago where I felt like I was dying. They would not give me anything either and told me to wait it out. I drank a ton of decaf tea to make my throat feel better during the sore throat part. That was the worst 2 days the sore throat. I could deal with it when it went into my sinuses and became a cough even though I was miserable.
Hang in there. It sucks!

When I've been sick in the past, I have taken Chamomile tea and I read it's safe to take during pregnancy. Have you tried that?

When I had a terrible sore throat, the only thing that helped me was gargling with warm water, honey and apple cider vinegar with mother. It's kinda gross and you will probably have to go to a Whole Foods or some other specialty place to find the apple cider vinegar with the mother, but it REALLY helped.

I don't have much else to add from the PP's
you can also gargle with water mixed with
- Hydrogen peroxide
- salt. .
mostly FEEL BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you have post nasal drip irritating your throat, in addition to the neti pot, try breathing in steam w/ 2 drops of eucalyptus oil (you can get it in any health food store, whole foods, etc)
it really helps if you do it right after you neti.
also, suck on some non-menthol lozenges, even something like lifesavers to keep your throat moist.

Whenever I'm feeling under the weather I try to drink lots of tea with honey. I hope you feel better soon. Its so hard to feel crappy from being sick and patience are limited from being pregnant!

I suffereed through a miserable sinus infection for a month until they finally gave me a Z pack -
honey helped my throat, and ice pops ..........

i agree it is strange that they will not give you anything.....i was really sick last week and they gave my the Z pack.....the doc. said i would rather give u this then u end up in the hospital even sicker.....but i am in my 3rd trimester now....i think if u are in your 1st they will not do anything.....my friend was also on the z pack so i felt better about taking it

If it's viral, anti-biotics will do nothing for your illness, I'm afraid. They'll only mess up the rest of your internal bacteria that you need (especially when PG since we preggos have a tendency to have difficulty being regular).
So sorry you're not feeling well. Lots of warm liquids... soups, decaf tea with honey, head over a bowl of hot water with a towel over it... lots of extra sleep.

I did the neti pot and eucalyptus oil steam inhalations and it really helped.
lots of fluids too.
feel better, I know how hard it is...I've been sick and miserable twice this pregnancy...sux!

Like the other girls said, there is nothing you can do for a virus but wait it out. Keep doing the netti pot, get some ricola cough drops, drink alot of tea w/ honey & most important get lots of rest.
