Sonogram question??

Since they normally don't do a sonogram at your 16 week appt, DH isn't going to come because it is hard for him to get home from work in time. I asked my mom to come and she is super excited to go.

Is there any way they would do a sonogram at that appt. so she could see the baby? I would really love for her to see the baby and not just hear the heartbeat

Should i call and ask?? or just ask when i get there?? Or is there no possibility?

I know that at my Dr's office you have to make appointments for sonograms. They will do a doppler however to hear the heartbeat.

My doctor's office never does sonograms without a medical reason.

Yeah, I agree, I have to schedule my sonograms, they just won't do one. We are going to our 20 week, and we invited my mom to go. My husband hasn't come to the non-sonogram appt's either...no reason for him to just sit there.

at 17 weeks i pleaded to have a sono and she gave in, so it can't hurt to ask

My insurance only covers 3 sonos so there was no pleading with my doc about having an extra one, when it wasn't scheduled.

My MD gave me extra sonos in the first trimester b/c I had a m/c last time, but now that I'm in the 2nd trimester my only scheduled sono is 20wks
DH, my mom & Dad are coming to that one.

My sonos are always scheduled beforehand, and they only do them out of medical necessity.

I would call and ask, explain the situation, my Dr will only do sonograms when necessary, he told me they don't know what the long term effects are of doing too many. But call and ask and see what they say

It doesn't hurt to ask, but most likely you won't get it. again, it all depends on the dr. office practice, insurance and so on. you mother will be able to hear the heartbeat though.

Probably not - alot of this is due to how many sono's insurance will cover. You will have to wait until the 20 week probably. But like someone said, they will use the doppler to hear the heartbeat.

It couldn't hurt to ask. Plus, they do the doppler which is fun in its own way.

My OB does a sono everytime I go...it's a quick one but it's his procedure. I don't think it's standard practice though...usually you have one in the beginning your level II and maybe one or two towards the end of your pregnancy.

I asked the sono technician if I can have my level 2 at 18.5 weeks so I can tell everyone at Christmas the sex! She said N...because the insurance companies start to give them a hard time!!
