Sono gel
I have IUI #4 this morning, I was thinking back and invite past the sono techs have put the gel under the condom thing and some were on top
I was thinking, is there spermicide in this gel? I am going to ask today prior to the IUI, but does anyone know the answer??

Sono gel
During the sono, the gel only gets inside your vagina, not inside your cervix. In the IUI, they thread the catheter through your cervix and deposit the washed sperm inside your uterus so I don't think the gel could affect an IUI. I don't think the gel has any spermicidal properties, but it may be hostel to sperm, but like I said I don't think it would matter.

Re: Sono gel
The gel is water based, hypoallergenic, and has no spermicides. The catheter goes through the cervix and into the uterus, so the gel doesn't interfere. The gel goes inside the probe cover to improve sound transmission, and goes on the outside for lubrication as well as improved sound transmission.
Hope everything went well this morning!!! Best of luck

Re: Sono gel
hello When you are doing your IUI they should only use the gel in the condom not outside. So they told me. Another other time before your ovulating and after they can use both

Sono gel
They never do Sono before my IUIs. But, I'm a sono tech and you always need gel on inside and either KY or Sono gel on outside.

Re: Sono gel
So fascinating how every RE does everything the same but different. Makes me second guess things sometimes, like, hmmmm why doesn't my RE do that. I wish they would just have a huuuuge conference, put their heads together, and figure out what the best way to do everything is lol Oh and the ins companies should be there too so they can start covering more IF stuff and stop giving us a hard time!!!!!!
How's everyone feeling?!?!?

Sono gel
I hope so. He's really freaked me out with this whole hyperplasia irregular lining crap...just something else to add to the list lol!! I found out he put me on bcp so I would not get af until after procedure. I have to skip the last row. That's another thing...wonder why my RE doesn't do b2b iui? I think I would prefer that!!! Hope your 2ww goes quick!!!!!!
