Sometimes I hate being Mom..
Its the worst job in the world some days.
AJ has been a mess. I don't know how parents of colic children do it. AJ isn't even screaming that bad or as long but still...
She cries so hard for 15-30mins that she's gagging. Nothing - absolutely NOTHING consoles her.
She's running a fever - is hot to the touch so while she's crying or just as she gets quiet I need to give her Motrin. Which of course gets her crying again. Then as she's settling from that I tell my husband "We still need to put in the drops" 6 drops in each ear.
This is beyond torture for me. Its frustrating and I burn in anger that I have to do this to her. Her high pitch screams, her desperate wiggles to get out from under while we forcibly hold her down to put them in.
I've been here. I remember the pain and anger of being helpless as my mother would do this to me. I was so angry that I swore I would never cause such distress on ANYONE Ever. Unless it was for torture.
And here I am.
Doing the same thing to my own. God its days like this I hate being 'that mom'. I wish we could just give her oral antibiotics but I know this is the best course of action.
I wish I could say its only for 3days as normal for such a procedure but its not. Just like me.. she can't seem to catch a break and is stuck with this for 10 full days. Three times a day.
Somewhere inside I know she won't remember this and its for her own good. But I hate being the hand that brings pain to my child 3times a day.
She wants nothing to do with me right now. She's always been Daddy's little girl but these past 24hours its been Mommy causes pain and Daddy soothes it away. She shakes her head and starts to cry when he passes her off to me so he can have his hands free. She cries with her head thrown back in misery until he comes back to retrieve her. She then buries her head into his shoulder and the sobs shake her body.
Yeah.. don't I feel like #1 Mom today ...

I know it s u c k s.......I sort of can relate....DS has had chronic ear infections....7 in 9 months.....and the antibiotic time of day is THE worst
She will forget....my kid sister did......we used to have to hold her down too
We just went through 3 ear infections in 7 weeks......so that was a lot of torture and it's fresh in my mind.....but DS has forgotten and still loves me! AJ will forget too!

Re: Sometimes I hate being Mom..
Kids HATE to be held down even for minor things so I can imagine how she is screaming and squirming. I hope she feels better soon so you can put this all behind you.
