Something I was pondering about FSH
If it's high..why won't the RE at least try some fertility drugs on me to see if I can be stimulated and maybe do an IUI?
I think it's worth a try, no?
I was just thinking about that last night. Of course, I'm trying to get it down to near normal levels but do IUIs impact their stats? I thought they only report IVF stats.

Re: Something I was pondering about FSH
I don't believe IUI's impact stats, or if they do, it's not quite as impactful.
Look, it's always worth a shot, right? I do know my friend who was given the exact same diagnosis proceeded with IUI with injectables, and she was able to conceive on her 2nd attempt.
I think your RE is pushing for DE because they want to do the most aggressive treatment available, to ensure a quick conception. Doing IUI with injections has a good chance of not succeeding, so they would look at it as a waste of time and money.
But there are ALWAYS exceptions to every statistic, especially if you do YOUR work in maintaining your health and doing what you can with alternative methods to lower your FSH.

my biggest ? now is..do I start with my new routine and then call the doc at Cornell or make the appt and will they get their own bloods on me? Don't they test each time we do a procedure to tell where the levels are?
i'm just hoping I'm not doomed. There is a chance I could lower this number..I really believe it..but will someone believe in me?

Cornell will most likely want their own day 3 bloods...they like to use their own lab for this... they like a yearly day 3
eta- they test for ivf, not sure about before all iui's

They will test your fsh every time if you have to cycle more than once. I think yesterday I advised-give yourself 3 onths-get scupuncture drink wheatgrass, organic foods, read Randione Lewis and Marilyn Glenville. So much of this is mental too so if you start out testing with a new Dr and get a better fsh you will feel MUCH more confident

Lisa..should I just call and get on the calendar knowing that my bloods are high? Should I spend a month trying to get it lower first? I'm 41..if I were 35 I wouldn't worry as much about th timing..I'm running out of time.

call Davis now (although he won't call right back b/c he will be giving me an HSG in 2 hours )
Its takes a while to get an appt, so meanwhile start some wheatgrass

For fresh I would go to Jamba Juice if I was in the city, or Wild by Nature ( I think that is the name)in LI...they also sold frozen shots to store in your freezer

Re: Something I was pondering about FSH
You could be pregnant right now. You did the HSG...I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Crazier things have happened.
In case not, I would make your appointment. I'm telling you I called the other day and I have appt on July 24th. And I know what you mean with the age thing, no time to wait (we did that already, for like 20 years). My FSH number went down significantly in a month (from 14 then 6.9). Before I see Davis I have to have CD2 b/w done by their lab plus get all my records sent to them and bring my HSG films (they are huge and annoying to carry). So, I would send everything but your CD3 b/w. What if you didn't even go to the other RE and never knew you had one elevated month? So far, I've never had 2 elevated months in a row.
MAKE THE PHONE CALL YOU CAN ALWAYS CANCEL OR CHANGE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Something I was pondering about FSH
Most of your questions have been answered...I just want to add - Start your lifestyle changes and make the appointment. If you stick to the wheatgrass shots and diet changes, you can see a difference in as little as a month. And you may very well wait that longer or longer to get a consult.
good luck!!

ok, now CD2 not 3? I had mine done on CD4..not by choice..
So I guess I call, make the appt, they send over a script for the BW and I get it done and bring everything over? They aren't going to question if I had other bw done?
that's what I'm afraid of.
I think I need 2 months to feel more secure about the bw being lower..but I have already started the changes, made an acupuncture appt and will get the wheatgrass tonight.
Yoga next week..organic stuff as well..
are you going to have to tell Davis about your high FSH?
the only records I have are the ones from this RE..just started..

Re: Something I was pondering about FSH
I need to find out what the cut off is at Cornell. I think my records show a 14 & 15, which maybe be higher than their cutoff. I may not be able to get around mine, because it may be on the same page as the IVF results.
Hey, I wonder if CD4 your FSH is higher. Who would know this?

Re: Something I was pondering about FSH
I think the easiest answer is they feel the eggs are not good quality even if you produce them.
I have semi high FSH. I had 18 eggs at ER, 15 were retrieved, and only 5 made it and only 2 were of a good quality.
so if you make lets say 4 follies on a medicated IUI cycle, they feel the chances of those follies being good or containing good enough eggs are slim.

Thats true but here is what happened to me(which is why I told her the other day it really is specific to the person) I had 6 embies, one lasted 1 day then I had 5. 5 made it to day 3 and they took the best two to implant. My clinic only freezes on Day 5. Both took. The other arrested sometime before Day 5. So basically we got similar results but you had many more follies.
