Someone please help me!
This will be night 2 of night sleep for me-
All Ryan will do is scream- Ive tried everything- the only thing that worked last night was a car ride- and even then he only slept for 2hrs...
At this point Id be happy with 2 hrs.. but we've gone on 2 car rides- and he wakes up as soon as we get out of the car-
Ive been giving him tylenol and motrin (switching off between the 2) and I guess it just isnt working...
Im at my wits end- def. losing it! This is so much harder than it was when he was a newborn!
Should I let him CIO even though he is sick? I feel terrible doing so- but Im starting to think it might be the only way we get some sleep around here!

Re: Someone please help me!
Is DH off tomorrow? Can you guys take turns sleeping and staying awake with Ryan during the night?
What about a bath? Any chance that might calm him down. Will he even lay in bed with you? Honestly if he's sick I say all bets are off and do whatever it takes. I personally couldn't let a sick baby CIO.

Nope wont lay period! I cant sit only stand- sometimes....
other than that he just continuously cries
ETA- I cant help but wonder if hes up because he dosent feel good or if its because last night DH and my Fil let him play & everytime they tried to put him to bed- took him back out- til 1 am

Then you have your answer.
I never let my kids CIO when they were sick. We both wanted them in bed with us. We recognized it was a step backward & that it make take another 3 days of CIO to get them back in their crib.

Re: Someone please help me!
I really wish I had an answer. Do you think he's in pain? Did he nap today? I wonder if he's overtired and that's part of it. I went through some unbelievable screaming with Miranda the other day like I have never seen from her. She wasn't sick so I had to finally let her cry and go to work. My mom called and said she went to sleep in about 2 minutes.
Have you let him CIO at all tonight? Like maybe less than 5 minutes?

Re: Someone please help me!
I dont know about pain, since I have been giving meds reg.
I most def think he is overtired~ i know i am!
ETA- both times we came in from the car ride- and i would put him in his crib- he'd immediately wake up and cry- I gave him a few minutes both times to see if he'd go back to sleep- but he would just get louder

Re: Someone please help me!
See like now- he starts playing with his toys- then begins to cry-
1st off- I dont think we should be playing toys right now
and 2ndly- nothing even set him off- one minute playing the next minute screaming!

Definitely sounds very over tired to me. Can you keep in a dim light room read to him or talk to him but don't let him be too stimulated. I would also recommend a nice warm bath to soothe him.

Im so sorry!! When Katie had coxsakie I held her and rocked her to sleep while I sang "rock a bye baby" - holding her was the only way to get her to sleep. So I held her nad sat up straight in my bed while she slept and I dozed when I could.

Re: Someone please help me!
When Alex had cosaxie it was HELL. She woke up crying every 30 mins... during the day not so bad, but at night, oy, it was hard. The only thing I could do was sit in the recliner with her on my chest through the night - she kept waking up, but because she was on me, I could comfort her quickly and she would fall back asleep within a few minutes... of course, I didn't get any sleep for about 3 days, but alas, such is the life of a mommy

Re: Someone please help me!
hopefully you are long asleep by now. BUt it does sound like overtired. The music from the baby einstein videos always soother my Ryan, even when he had night terrors. It was the only thing that would help

Re: Someone please help me!
Are you giving him the pacifier? If he's that sick and miserable - anything goes. The only way I would do CIO with a sick baby is to shut off all the lights, put him in his crib, turn on soft music and let him lay there and cry while I rub his back and sing or shush him. Sometimes it works, sometimes it makes things worse. Sometimes DH has to do it because if it's me, he wants to be picked up and only gets more hysterical.
Hope you got some sleep last night and hope Ryan feels better soon!

Re: Someone please help me!
Well we went to bed at 5am and woke @ 8:30am- and STILL hasnt even napped today
How is he still standing- 2 days of no sleep!!!
Ive tried everything- soft music- the rocking chair- the couch, my bed, standing and rocking- NOTHING lasts more than a half hour (if that!)
I swear my neighbors are gonna call the police- this child has done nothing but cry for going on 3 days!!!!!
I just dont know what to do- something isnt right- this just isnt normal

Could he be getting more teeth on top of the coxsackie? Molars maybe? I don't know when they get them.

Well what is- Murphys law that states
Whatever can go wrong- will go wrong
With my luck- on top of having coxsackie- and just getting the MMR shot- He prob is getting his molars too
I need to come up with a sleep plan FAST!
