Hang in there! I felt the same way..I was always upset because DS went to aftercare, then when I was home for five months, I was going a little stir crazy being home all the time! Now I'm working and wish I was home I think the ideal situation would be to work p/t, but that never works out when you are paying for childcare!

I think it just takes time to get used it. I find that the days where we don't get out - they are the longest. I usually like to get out at least once a day to break it up (not only for me but for DS too)
Do you have friends that live close by? Have you joined a Gymboree or any type of baby class? I find they are great places to socialize.
ETA: Also maybe add where you live and some girls will give you some local ideas.

Re: some what new to being a SAHM...
I know where your coming from when it comes to being a SAHM.
It took some time to adjust to the idea of being a mom but now that i have DD i wouldnt change it for the world.
I would say see if there are any play groups in your area in addition to our mall walks on thursday's. The best thing for me was being able to be around other mom's.
Heck you can always send a FM my way because I'm always looking for other mom's to hang out with.

Re: some what new to being a SAHM...
I went through some tough days as I transitioned from working to being a SAHM. I was in sales and seeing and talking to clients all day, everyday. I find it helps to see other people (adults), either having people over for lunch or going out at least a few times a week.
I treat being home like it's a job. I do different chores each day (with deadlines). I administer our finances, and work on keeping us to a tight budget.
I also love to cook. I wasn't able to cook that much when I was working and commuting to and from NYC so it's a pleasure to get back into it. I've made so many different soups and cookies for DH, he's loving it too.
I spent a few weeks really feeling like I was facing a life of isolation and boredom but the more I plan things and the more DD develops the more fun it's getting.
I wouldn't trade a second of my time with DD, even on the harder days I know I'm very lucky to be able to do this.
ETA: I forgot to mention, I LOVE your avatar photo, he is so adorable!!!!!
