Some stupid questions from a 1st timer

So I'll be 34 weeks this Tuesday, and as I read some posts on here, I think I'm kind of clueless.

For example, my shower is next weekend, so I don't have any bottles or really anything yet besides the furniture.

When I get bottles, how do I sterilize them? Is this necessary? When do I do it?

I don't even know what else to ask because I'm not sure what else there is to do before baby arrives. The 3 things on my list are pack hospital bag, put in car seat (after we get it at shower) and wash baby clothes.

What else do I need to prepare? Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think you will have a lot of stuff once you have your shower. I only had the furniture before my shower.

I got a ton of bottles for my shower. I plan on trying to breastfeed so all my bottles are stored in the baby's closet for now until I need them. I can sterilize them in the dishwasher when I need them. From what I understand it is better to sterilize them just before you need them.

I packed my hospital bag and put the car seat bases in the car at 36 weeks. You can start washing clothes. I did this after my shower. Although we are
Chat Icon so I don't have a ton of clothes but I washed onesies, blankets and etc that I got from the shower.

I am a first time mom too so I may be missing something too. But hopefully that will help. My shower was at 33 weeks and I basically got everything done in the past month. You will get everything done! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

For sterilizing, the best thing we used were the medela sterilizing bags. They are like large ziplocs and you put all te stuff in there with a little bit of water, pop it into the microwave and voila!

Honestly, with DD I did not sterilize stuff until she got home. At the hospital they send you home with these singles use glass bottles full of formula and nipples so it is not like you will need it as soon as you get home.

Pack your hospital bag. Wash some baby stuff (clothes, onesies, sheets). Set up a place for her/him to sleep (whether it is the crib, bassinet etc.).
You need diapers, wipes, some sort of ointment. Stuff to give the baby a sponge bath. That is really all that NEEDS to be done before the baby comes. Oh and a bouncy seat (I did not wash the cover or anything)

I sent DH out a bunch of times in the first few days to pick up stuff.
