Solids - I don't think I'm doing this right....

DS is 6mths old. We started cereal last month. This month we start veggies. I started with Sweet potato for lunch.

So far he has 5tbs oatmeal and the rest of his bottle at 7am, 6oz at 11:30ish and then one container of sweet potato and a 6oz bottle at 3, 5tbs of oatmeal and the rest of his bottle at 6pm and then bed between 7 and 7:30

My question is the ped said to feed as much as he wants for lunch. Am I supposed to stop at one container and give him the bottle? Should I skip the bottle and give him more sweet potato? I'm so confused as to how his lunchtime meal should look!

any advice is appreciated!

I might try skipping the 11:30 bottle and giving him lunch around that time. Give him as much as he wants and then give his "lunchtime" bottle maybe an hour later, or whenever he gets hungry. You'll probably notice a decrease in bottles as more solids are introduced. My DD is 9 mos. and has 3 meals and usually 3 bottles--each following a meal.

Thanks for the reply - so if he wants two containers of potatoes at 11:30 - i should give it to him and then if he's hungry a few hours later I can give him the bottle?

At that age I would Give DD lunch around 11:30am and she would typically eat Two stage 1's or One stage 2. I would then give her her bottle about an hour later....hope that helps
