"Soft" Cervix- close to labor?
I never had this with DD. I was status quo for all my internals and even up until the day I went into labor I was not really dilated.
I had an internal today and doc said that my cervix was "nice and soft", baby had dropped, but cervix was still closed. I definitely had a contraction this evening but just one.
I am 37 weeks 4 days (or 38 weeks 4 days if you go by my original due date)
I am hoping for a vbac so any progress is good news, but I would love to be able to take DD trick or treating this week and her birthday is Monday!
Anyone care to share their experiences? Thanks!

I was soft and closed for about a week and a half before I had my last 2 babies.. And had a lot of contractions the week leading up to labor with my last.. I didn't dilate until I was in labor... Here is to hoping you at least make it to Halloween!! Good luck

I would say that is good news and that you hopefully are on your way!!
DS was 7 weeks early so when I was pregnant with DD my Dr started doing internals at 35 weeks to hopefully give some indicator if she was coming before her due date (in which I had 2, Jan 18 and Jan 20)
At 35 weeks Dr told me I was soft and closed. DD was head down and not yet dropped.
At 36 weeks I was soft and "barely one" DD was "barely dropped"
At 37 I was 1cm
At 38 & 39 I was 1-2 cm
At 40 weeks (It was Jan 17th) I was 2-3cm. She stripped my membranes and said that should "jump start me"
DD was born Jan 19th, smack in the middle of her two due dates!!

For my second child my doctor told me my cervix was nice and soft at 38 weeks. She was practically gushing she was so pleased with it. My water broke that night and dd2 came in 90 minutes.
