SO UPSET

So here I am at 6:30 AM the morning of my first IUI. All my DH has to do is provide the sample so we can take it to the doctor. Well, the doctor is 30 min away and my DH just informed me that he' having a very hard time producing the sample. (after 30 minutes of trying) I'm so upset that this isn't going to happen now today. I mean I'm doing all the hard work here, taking all the meds. The sample MUST be in the office by 7:00 AM...and now we probably won't even make it.

Hopefully it went well. I know, I know, believe me, I know . They feel this pressue to perform on demand. I say nothing, because it will just make it worse.

I am so sorry. It really is difficult to just do it on command with so much riding on it. Dh's count was so low on the day of our IUI and it never was before. I swore it had to do with the stress. I hope it ended up working out for you. You can always still BD! Good luck!

I hope it worked out this morning. We had a morning like that once-----very stressful for both of us!

So...he pulled through at the end and we got there only a few minutes late. But, now that I just finished the IUI they said his counts were really low. They like to see them at 5 million and his was only 1.2 mil. I feel like this is NEVER going to happen.

OH gosh, that sounds EXACTLY like our first IUI. DH's count was bad too. We fought, I had to call them and tell them we'd be late...it was horrible. I'm so sorry you had to deal with the whole thing.

I'd suggest doing back to back, but if the situation was exactly like mine...the idea of going through it tomorrow morning would make me ill.

Just make sure you BD tonight. And tomorrow.

Its so frustrating on our end because we "think" its easy for them to produce on call. And really, its probably one of the worst things we could ask a man to do. KWIM? I will tell you that after that experience, I made sure I made it fun and helped out the next time. The count went up a lot with that. Though I am hoping you don't have to worry about a next time. It just takes one strong swimmer and with IUI it doesn't have to swim that far. Just try to do some meditation or something to calm yourself down. Even breathing slowly will help a lot.

Oh and FYI - at the end of the day it wasn't his count that was my problem. My eggs are bad, so that is why our IUI didn't work.

Like Beth, I found that if I "helped out"...you know, made it feel more normal, like something we were doing together, not a medical experiment, that the counts were higher. Odd, but true.

You know, this is an option if this becomes an issue for you. They do make "condoms" that he can, well, give his sample in, and you guys can just BD. You can ask the doctor's office about that.

Also, DH used porn That helped. I think it was worse when I tried to 'assist' in the situation.

Thank you so much for all your replies and support! It means alot.
Yes...when I offered to assist he said it was even more pressure..lol. He also said that there will be a $15.00 movie on our cable bill this month... He had to do what he had to do.

Glad to hear DH came through today, no pun intended. I would BD as much as possible today and tomorrow and try to relax!
